A reclusive taxidermist, through falling in love, reconnects with the living world from which he has withdrawn from.

“...an image driven film that subtly brings alive the world of two diverse artists, using minimalist dialogue, provoking atmospherics and clever reveals. It was a pleasure to read.” - Ray Mooney*, Screenwriter.

In an isolated park a dark and lonely figure moves about collecting dead animals to take back to his shop and taxidermy, adding them to his growing family. This recluse is Carl, a taxidermist who has disconnected from the world around him and falls deeper into a pit that’s alluring and comforting. He is protected from his insecurities because the outside world is replaced by a world he can control, though it’s not quite right as he is unhappy and not fully content.

Soon an outsider enters his world that threatens to expose his insecurity and disrupt his shy and withdrawn nature. However he finds she is able to fill the void he has been feeling and Carl’s situation becomes one that transforms him. Upon Elaina’s death Carl has come to the realisation through finding love that “…it’s better to have a brief moment, than own something forever.” And his life is changed for the better.

*Ray Mooney is a screenwriter, novelist, playwright who lectures in all three. His screenplay, Everynight Everynight, co-written with Alkinos Tsilimidos,  was nominated for an AFI for Best Adapted Screenplay.
